"Watch Me pull a Rabbit out of my Hat..."
Unfortunately, hypnotherapy is not a “magicians act” and never will be and a hypnotherapist is not a magician.
So, why is it that people feel that their longstanding issues, the ones that often they have struggled with for years, possibly decades, and sought relief from many other sources will be miraculously cured in their first session with a hypnotherapist?
For a hypnotherapist, the first session really is about meeting the client, making the client comfortable with what we do and conducting an in-depth, fact finding mission followed by a brief hypnotic experience. The more quality time spent in discovering the true nature of the presenting issue the more likely it is that we can find the true and root cause of the issue so that appropriate treatment can be utilised in follow-up sessions.
Most Clinical hypnotherapists will suggest an initial minimum of 3 consecutive sessions - fine tuning the therapy with each session based on intensive research they have done between sessions and also taking into account vital feedback from the client. In many cases, further sessions are required as in many cases the presenting issue may have multiple causes which may require individual attention.
CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH A CURE BUT JUST LIKE A COURSE OF ANTIBIOTICS YOUR GP PRESCRIBES - YOU ONLY GET THE BEST RESULT IF YOU COMPLETE THE FULL COURSE.
